One FULL Perspective

A clear glass sitting on the table top that is be filled with mild by a clear glass milk jug.

This month we are learning about jars and I want to focus on how a little jar represents many BIG and mighty things. Have you ever heard the saying, “Is the glass half empty or half full?" Depending on your answer, it is supposedly reveals whether or not you are a pessimist or an optimist.  This is the world’s limited understanding of perspective.

As a believer, I would say that you should have a FULL view. It's neither half full or half empty - it's not about what's inside, it's about the glass itself. It's whole and one full piece. And we have a full perspective because have the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Everything that you and I will ever need is found in Him. Therefore our view of our circumstances and our current situations that we are facing should be full and filled with hope, faith and expectancy. His love, kindness and mercy is unending and will never will run out.  Do you believe that with Jesus all things are possible that He is the One Who strengthens you? In His Word, you can find strength, hope and grace. In His Word, you will be able to stand and preserve. In His Word, you will find peace and joy. His Word is Truth. His grace is enough.

2 Peter 1:3

For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.”

What kind of perspective do you have? Do you see lack or do you see a blessing that can be multiplied (blessed by the Lord) to bring change into your life and circumstance. Perspective is defined in Hebrew as the way in which an object appears to the eye.  How we perceive life affects EVERYTHING in our life. It affects our attitude, thoughts, health, reactions, actions and our emotions. Most importantly it affects our relationship with the Lord. We have to train our spiritual eyes to focus on the Holy Spirit. Our natural circumstances do not define our lives, praise the Lord! Having a biblical perspective is very important because it means that, you see things as not the world’s way of understanding but the way the Lord lives a life according to His Word.

How do you change your point of view? It starts with a fresh pair of eyes. A fresh outlook. Learning to see with the eyes of God.  This takes time and practice but remember you are not alone. You have the Holy Spirit who is your greatest Teacher and Helper. With Him, you will become diligent and disciplined. This is another level of learning to surrender and to sacrifice. Laying down your personal opinion. Learning to pause before making a judgment or decision. His values become yours. His perspective becomes yours. Godly perspective matters. He provides the perfect strategy.

Are you facing a difficult situation? Have you been dreaming with the Lord? Has He placed a new dream in your heart? All of these need the Father’s perspective. We need to make sure we have a pure perspective and understanding on the matter. Getting out of the way and allow the Lord to have His way; placing your trust in Him, no matter what you see or feel. When you make this a discipline, it will result in good fruit.  Our God is big and holds the whole world in His hands. He is in every detail of His children’s lives. Trust in His Word for your life.  Everything about a believer should reflect Jesus. Without saying a word, our actions and reactions should reflect the goodness of the Lord. Living a life that brings Him glory. Many people call this a biblical lens.

Isaiah 55:8-9

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than your ways And My thoughts higher you’re your thoughts.”

In that scripture we learn so many important things that we have access to. Here we see that we can truly have the mind of Christ, trading our thoughts for His. It is by the transformation of our minds that our perspective begins to change. Having the right perspective is important because it creates balance in our lives. When you can see clearly you perceive clearly. There is a comfort in the promise of knowing we serve a big God. He is separate from the ways of man and He is holy, pure and good in every way. He does not lie. He is true to His Word. He is eternal and His ways are never ending. In all ways, He is above. He has the full picture. I find so much comfort in knowing that God is constant. He is the Alpha and the Omega.  He provided His children with wisdom, knowledge, and discernment. Making a priority to change our perspective on God, we place the Lord first and you cannot go wrong when doing that. Making this choice, it means that you are aligning yourself with the Lord and His ways. Aligning yourself with His heart and becoming one on a deeper level. Drawing close to the Lord and being in deep fellowship with Him will affect everything and everyone around you.

Reflection:

Reflect on how you are interpreting to those around us and how we view ourselves. We were created to view the world and interact with it through a biblical perspective so that we can be able to glorify  the Lord in all that we do. Living a life that He delights in.

  • What is your perspective? Are you viewing your surroundings in a worldly way or Godly way?

  • Will you apply the Word to your perception? How will it affect your outlook on your situation?

Let's Pray:

Holy Spirit, help me to focus on the Lord and to see what He is doing and speaking.  Lord, I want to become disciplined in this area. Change any area in my life that has a wrong perspective and re-align me with Your perspective. Thank You for moving in my life.

In Jesus name, amen.
