I'm in awe and wonder of God every day - truly every single day. His ways never cease to amaze me. The love that He has for me is so surreal. The amount and level of detail that He gives to my day, and my path, are mind blowing. And this is why He is GOD!
John 4:24 says that God is Spirit. God is always on the move. God is always in movement. When we look at His creation, the earth and nature around us, it all has a cycle. But as we think about it, it's not really a cycle, it's God's movement. God loves for all His creation to move and evolve into something even better. God creates, puts it into motion, and His creation stays in motion until it's death.
Isaiah 40:7-8
The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
Most certainly [all] the people are [like] grass. The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God stands forever.
With God, and His creating and movement process, there is always something new. But in His newness, He remains the same. As life, and the things around us change and become new, God stands as our firm foundation.
When we stand on the Lord, we can enjoy the movement around us because the ground beneath us isn't shaking. We can appreciate the new.
Matthew 13:43
Then the righteous [those who seek the will of God] will shine forth [radiating the new life] like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears [to hear], let him hear and heed My words.
Because our Almighty God has profound depths to Him, we need to be open to anything He wants to do or say that is new. Even in familiar scripture, we can hear something new if we are ready to receive and have a teachable heart. So often we won't visit another bible study, or join someone else's group because 'we already do that.' How sad! By limiting our involvement to one group or place, we miss out on what other's in the body of Christ have to offer and what God wants to do in the new. I can tell you that even as I teach the same materials at Trumpets of Tirzah it always comes out a little different. As I speak to a new group, the Holy Spirit wants to give me different words, even though it's the same topic, something new is released - and the Tirzah Tribe can testify to that (ha ha ha.)
Many people in this world are focused on being an expert in their field and pride themself on the amount they know about a subject they are passionate about. But as followers of Christ, because God is profoundly deep, we can't ever be an 'expert' on Him and His ways. There is ALWAYS more to learn, more to discover, and more to seek. We are called to seek and keep on seeking. This is where we can easily take a huge misstep. After all, look at the Pharisees.
The Pharisees believed themselves to be an expert in scripture. They prided themselves on their knowledge and religious standards of living. They were living a Holy life - until Jesus came and they weren't ready for God to do something new. Even though they knew scripture, they couldn't accept the Manifestation of scripture right in front of their faces. When we elevate ourselves to 'expert' status we immediately close ourselves off to the new. We close ourselves off to how God wants to grow and change us. We close ourselves off to God doing something new and amazing in our own life.
Luke 8:18
So be careful how you listen; for whoever has [a teachable heart], to him more [understanding] will be given; and whoever does not have [a longing for truth], even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.”
The Pharisees talked about knowing truth but they didn't have a teachable heart and therefore didn't have a true longing for truth. They couldn't see, they couldn't hear, and their eternal destination is paying a great price for their expert earthly opinion.
We are all members of the same body - not to be segregated by churches or denominations. As a body of believers, we are called to come into community with one another as a whole. To learn from one another, support one another, and share with one another. When we keep to a group, or even a church, we are missing out on the new that God is doing through the whole body.
What keeps you from visiting another bible study? Is it a teachable heart? Do you think that another group doesn't have any more to offer than the one you already 'belong' to? There are TONS of people in this world who have something valuable to offer if we are open to receive. But when we aren't open to the new, we are missing out on the new that God is doing, and His 'new' is always full of blessings.
When God does something new, it's usually through someone or something unexpected. It's His creative way of honoring the humble. Why else would Jesus have been born in a stable?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].
I encourage you to shed off your old spiritual condition. As you learn more today than you did yesterday, you become something new today. When we don't have a teachable heart we stop renewing ourself and therefore become stagnant and at some point in the future now we are an 'old self', but in the world's eyes it's called an expert.
Be open, be teachable, search for the new that God is doing. God wants to grow you closer into the image of Jesus, and closer in relationship to Himself, but it requires you to do it His way.
Receive the new thing that God is doing. Be open to what God wants to do in your life. It comes with blessings and eternal rewards.
Beautifully and brilliantly written!! I really love what you’re saying about trying different home groups or churches as all one body and new things to learn! ❤️
Very true! We do make it really hard on ourselves when we don't want to accept/receive the new He's doing! I would get stuck in feeling "loyal" to one Bible study group or church...even if I wasn't feeling spiritually fed, but my loyalty should always & only be to God & seeking His truths & what He wants to reveal!
Very powerful!!
Loved it! We can believe Solomon ( man) when he says there is nothing new under the sun or we can believe God and know that in Christ all things are made new....may we seek, search, dig and push forward to know and experience the New.
Blessings Lovely
